Looking to take your significant other out for a date night? Or maybe you’ve finally built up the courage to ask your crush to hit the town? Whatever it may be, actually planning out a good date that is fun and keeps the conversation going is oftentimes harder than people might think. But don’t worry, your friends at Laws of Love have you covered. Here's a list of four date ideas that will make you fall even harder in love, as well as four that you might want to steer clear of because they’ll have you both running for the hills.
First off, let's start with some dates that will have you walking down the aisle faster than you thou
ght possible:
1.) Go to local professional sporting event:
Being from Atlanta, GA. teams such as Atlanta United, The Braves, Atlanta Falcons, and more come to mind. But even if you’re not from Georgia, don’t feel as though this idea can’t be something fun for you and your partner to partake in. Almost every major city in the United States has some type of sports team for you to cheer on. This is a good environment for you to loosen up with a few drinks (21+) and have fun with your partner while you both support your city. So, dust off that old jersey and hit the stands!
2.) Have a cozy game night at home:
Grab a glass of wine, both of your favorite snacks, and pull out those board games from the closet because it’s time to show off your competitive side. As long as both agree not to get too serious, playing games can be a blast. Depending on the type of game, it can also be a great way to get to know one another in a more strategic way, truly seeing how each other thinks. But remember to always keep it easy, breezy, and fun!
3.) Find a local arcade or mini-golf spot:
Want a great date that gets you in fresh air and showing your fun side? The ROOF at Ponce City Market is the perfect place for a first date or even the 50th. From drinks, to mini-golf, to skee ball The ROOF at Ponce is nothing short of a great time for both parties involved. While dinner and drinks is a classic first date option, it’s best to be able to let both of your guards down so you can get to know each other a little bit better. If you can’t have fun with that person, you definitely don’t want to suffer through another date.
4.) Cooking or Cocktail class:
Another great date idea is to take a cooking class or even a cocktail mixing class. The key to a great date is to really connect with the person and to see if you can have fun together. Learning to cook or to make great cocktails is just the thing to help you two let your guard down and maybe even get to see each other’s creative side.
Now, let’s face it, all of us have been on at least one bad date in our lifetimes. And, while you may be able to look back at it now and laugh, just try to remember how miserable you were feeling in the moment. Here’s a few examples of dates that might give you PTSD:
1.) Run a race together:
No matter how athletic each of you are, the thought of a half marathon doesn’t exactly scream, “sexy”. The amount of sweat, frizzy hair, and stinky armpits would definitely have us sprinting toward the finish line just so the date would end faster.
2.) Hit a nightclub:
Don’t get us wrong, this might sound ideal for some and hey, to each their own. However, a nightclub isn’t exactly the most romantic spot for a night out with your significant other. Instead, go to a local brewery to gain a more intimate experience while still indulging in alcohol. Or, if dancing is the appeal, try signing up for a local dance class with your partner, it would be a way for both of you to learn a new skill while spending quality time together.
3.) Going to the movies:
While this is a classic go to, if you are on a first date you don’t want to spend your time not interacting with your date! You want to spend the most time having fun with them and getting to know them. Now if you and your date are big movie junkies then this could work out perfectly. In the meantime stay away from any date that keeps you from chatting and having one on one fun with that special someone.
4.) Local rock show or improv comedy:
Everyone loves a good show but for a good first date you need to have something you know both of you can have a good time with. Local comedy shows can be duds and if the comedian isn’t funny the only person laughing will be the one who took your money to get in. Rock shows can be fun, but anything other than a concert hall can be noisy and honestly obscene.
