A Few Things To Do and NOT To Do on a Date

Last week Laws of Love discussed good and bad date ideas. However, coming up with an activity is not the only thing you need to be worried about when trying to impress your partner. Today we will be discussing the “do’s and don'ts” for how to act when it’s finally time to hit the town.

DO have a positive attitude.

There’s nothing worse than being super excited to have a nice time with someone you’re interested in and all they end up being is negative. If your first instinct is to complain about the weather or how bad the restaurant is, it may be time to have a deeper conversation with yourself about that sour attitude. When on a date, even if it’s not going too well, be mature and polite, then leave and chalk it up to, “at least I put myself out there”.

DON’T drink and date.

Having a drink or two to calm the nerves and get yourself talking is one thing. Having 5,6, or even 10 is WAY overdoing it. It is a known fact that the drunker people get, the messier. You definitely don’t want your crush to be carrying you to the car or cleaning puke off their clothes. You have plenty of time for all that further on into the relationship, but for date number one, stick to water.

DO act interested and engaged.

Talk. Ask questions. Make eye contact. And definitely stay OFF those phones. No one wants to go on a date with someone who acts as though they don’t care or have somewhere better to be. If you’re having a horrible time, just end it early. But, you agreed to be here so act like it. Who knows? You may be missing out on finding the love of your life because you’re too busy not being present.

DON’T talk about your ex.

Ex’s always loom in the background but they should never be first date talking material. You are at the beginning stages of getting to know one another, leave the baggage for later. Truly, no good can come of this. You will either look like you aren’t ready to move on, bitter, heartless, or all three. Not a very good first impression.
